Holographic 80s

It’s ok. I very much enjoyed We Bare Bears and thought it ended too soon. When I heard about this show, I was pretty excited and loved the concept. I was surprised at the art style change but from the trailer and preview images, I actually liked what I saw even though I still would have enjoyed the original style of the show. However, when I watched the first episode with my boyfriend, who also liked the original show, I was thoroughly confused and genuinely sitting there thinking, “Was this made specifically for girls?”. It tries way too hard to be anime and is overly “cute” to the point that it’s in every sequence. There’s zero comedic effect not to mention Ice Bear speaks too often which seems to be a common complaint. So far I’ve only seen two episodes and man the designs for the other characters are sorely lacking. I’m specifically referring to the fairies and Craig Egg. These designs are way too simple and aren’t interesting to look at let alone don’t even match the style the bears are drawn in, Lastly, the voices for the bears, especially Panda, are annoying to listen to and sometimes difficult to understand. What was wrong with the voices from the original show for the bears as cubs? Were they actually kids and could no longer fit the role? Overall I’m disappointed with this show. I don’t think it deserves a one star, but not a three, I’d recommend it to people who liked the original show to give it a try but I would warn them of my experience.
