A movie that was predictably generic with a one-trick pony theme of “Barbie wants to be a real girl” that became painfully redundant and finally overly self-reverential. It’s lost the plot it never had. Mass-marketed movies are almost always mediocre and plain. This was no exception. A few guffaws here and there but after my popcorn was dwindling about 35 minutes in I really just wanted to leave. Warner Brothers managed to make a movie full of characters that were one-dimensional at best, and not one that provoked me to care about them. Sadly Ryan Gosling as Ken was uninteresting as well, and unattractive to boot. An utter fail.
