1/5. Sorry not sorry. Why? The main protagonist is just boring, along with most of the others. (Shoshanna was acceptable.) I get the conflict, but yet at the same time it annoyed me so much. Some description and hyperboles were overused and definitely irritating. I don't know why this is praised so much, honestly. First person books are not usually well done in my opinion, but this is just a whole new level of disappointment. Not my cup of tea, for sure. Then some things just happen out of the blue. This includes some spoilers, below. If you don't wanna get spoiled then please scroll but honestly it's not that deep.
SPOILER PART:
Okay so apparently Brayden or whatever throws a single punch without dying once but nearly did, made a fool of himself all those times before and embarrassed himself countless times but yet... HE STILL GETS THE GIRL? Kimberly was clearly NOT interested in him, yet still falls for him in the end just because he didn't die the single time he actually stood up for himself. I get she didn't have any personality but c'mon bro. One of the most irritating things about this book.
Also when they're all in the court room for some reason they all I mean ALL of them stand up for a guy who has the personality of an average CharacterA.I. character, amnesia or not. The two guys who still bullies others were the only ones that didn't. I thought Shoshanna was about to spit, but she ended up taking Chase's side. I get the character growth, but it's so slight. I only liked her because of her constant need to commit something violent onto Chase because I wanted to as well but I was so disappointed. They end up dating. DATING. Smh. At first I did like her too before but ended up getting skeptical because she was afraid of being wrong, being said somewhere in the book I don't bother to look in that book again. She literally said she was afraid of being wrong in her point of view. It's pitiful to say the least. I couldn't tell the difference between most of the point of views as well, including Joel. Other than when he says some things about notes or something when we first his his point of view but it's abandoned later on. It's so upsetting and ignorant.
Please, PLEASE have second thoughts before you buy this book. It is lazy. Actually lazy. 0 personality in most of the characters, (LOOKING AT KIMBERLY) 0 different hyperboles and exaggerations. It was painful to read, and I kept zoning out over and over while trying ot read it because it was so boring. Have second thoughts. It is not a good book.
