Spoiler alert It wanted to be good, to be thought provoking, to balance on the edge of allegory and mental illness (while asking us to overlook some obvious technical issues) and then a snake with arms burst out of Halle Berry, and a ridiculous rubber alien chicken hand appeared in a Polaroid and it lost the edge and dragged us to disappointment. 2 stars for almost striking a balance that would have left the truth open to debate, rather than head scratching "Wait....wtf."
