I’ve only seen the first episode. The show does fit the current time and is very modern. The casting was good and the acting on point, however there are several reasons why I don’t like it.
1. It should’ve been it’s own series. It’s vastly different from the original so why not just make your own show, not a reboot.
2. Who is the intended audience? I would’ve loved to show this to my students because the storyline is powerful, but there’s way too much profanity. It’s a show about a teenager that teenagers can’t really watch. I’m sure some will anyways, but not mine! I like that I can show episodes of the original to anyone and still have thoughtful conversations on some of the issues.
3. All the drama in one episode alone seems forced. I could see how so many people like it though because we are living in a time when pettiness and drama is what people like to see. Personally, I’m not a fan of that stuff. If there’s conflict, resolve it or move on.
