This is an incredibly enjoyable book. It is such a sensitive and revealing read. One can see the house " facing the wrong way", and can empathise with the various inhabitants of the house. The strands of isolation and individuality run throughout. The book is very well written showing a great command of language.
Who would enjoy this book? Anyone with a love of history, with an enjoyment
of a book which demonstrates a love of what is important in life:- family, friendship, community , continuity and much which has been lost in our frenetic modern lives.
I thoroughly recommend this excellently crafted book.
