I went in not expecting much and with lots of apprehension as I love the original and after I'd seen the trailer with the extra notes in the songs thought OMG ruin some iconic stuff as well as hearing Kiss the Girl wasn't in it. Daughters of Triton isn't in it but to be honest that's no big loss as there are new songs that make it up. 1) Hallie Bailey is FANTASTIC the extra notes actually work well when you hear the whole song 2) Kiss the Girl is in it was brilliant 3) Scuttle is a girl but it works (although you can't beat the original) 4) Ursula was brilliant and there's an explanation of her relationship to Triton 5) Love the new songs So yeah I'd recommend watching this for someone who really didn't want to like it I ended up loving it!

I wouldn't give it 5 *s as it won't ever beat the classic, however if you're expecting a movie it's almost more of an updated musical which with the cast could easily be an updated stage version, I did find it weird in places but at the same time liked it, was more than happy singing (more likely wailing) along with the songs 🤣 but definitely worth the watch it just depends on what you like as a musical movie. Anyone who doesn't understand it, get the book by TS Elliott Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats then you may understand 😉
