I absolutely love James Patterson and was beyond excited to see this series brought to TV. I’ve read 27 books in the Alex Cross series so far, and not once did they include any “woke garbage”. I am so tired of this being crammed into every new show. I watch fictional TV to escape from the everyday world and to be entertained—not preached to.
Unfortunately, Alex Cross’s character in the series felt completely off. He came across as far too dark and brutish, which is a far cry from the complex and nuanced character Patterson created in the books. The music was another major issue—why does every show these days feel the need to include such jarring, over-the-top soundtracks?
While the story itself was decent and some of the actors did a fine job, the execution overall left me disappointed. It could have been so much better. I can’t imagine James Patterson himself is happy with how this adaptation turned out.
