Its a NBC show from the mid 80s so when you watch it today, you'll see a bit of dialogue and storylines that may seem a bit cheesy for modern audiences but overall its a very enjoyable show, especially for history buffs for this period. Season 1 is easily the best as it was filmed on a military base in the jungles of Hawaii, so the sets look very accurate. Unfortunately the 2nd and 3rd seasons had a reduced budget and had to move to filming in California woodlands, which does not at all look like Vietnamese jungles. Also it was in the 2nd season that the show started trying to court female audiences by adding in love storylines due to the success and superior ratings of the more female-centric Vietnam TV show "China Lakes", the showrunners learn from this mistake in the 3rd season and removed all romance subplots and refocused on the battlefield and military service but the innaccurate California sets can still take you out of it. Due to these reasons the show takes a bit of a dive in these seasons but it still remains a good show. Its also in the 2nd and 3rd seasons where the shows are less about action but more about the social issues that soldiers faced, which are very important episodes to appreciate what the soldiers on the ground went through outside of the battlefield. Still a great show and I'd highly recommend it to anyone whose a Vietnam war history enthusiast or military enthusiast.
