This brilliant show offers a unique, imaginative and, quite frankly, ingenious way to portray two very human experiences : grief and loneliness. Sunny explores the ways in which technology can and does help those who suffer from loneliness, but how it also exploits and manipulates the lonely - reminding us that technology is ultimately a human creation and humans do not do anything altruistically. Even if a product was created with positive intent, there is always someone else (usually with more money) who will co-opt it, using the tech to harm others for their own gain. As a bonus, we get a rare glimpse into Japanese culture from both the American and Japanese perspectives. It's a must-watch for those with curious minds, who enjoy exploring the human condition through new lenses. For those who prefer straightforward, familiar genres (or who hate subtitles), you may not appreciate this one.
