The movie does not explore causes of the future American Civil War beyond identifying several States that left the USA, but it focuses on the war's effects in the form of violent episodes and various battle sequences. The film is primarily a coming of age story in the field of wartime photojournalism told in the context of the Civil War. Character development does not achieve a great deal of depth but there are some compelling episodic performances. 3.5 out of 5. Well edited at about 1 hour 45 minutes.
