One of the most brilliant works for television I have seen. Great acting, fabulously textured visually, well crafted story, it is a wonderful use of the medium. Non-German speaking viewers must experience its original voice to appreciate the quality of the performance. We get a feel of post WW1 Germany and the table being set for the next conflict, internally and internationally. Not much compares.
