Gripping, thought-provoking and suspenseful. Really makes you think about the impact of a crime, and whether the punishment for juvenile offenders is appropriate enough to bring justice to their victims. Associate judge Shim Eun-seok (Kim Hye-soo) was the powerhouse of the show - she stayed true to her values no matter how big the enemy was. She is composed and logical, and may appear callous at times, however the series explains why - she truly believed in attaining justice for the victims that the perpetrator caused - no matter how young their perpetrators may be, they should still face the ramifications of the law at full force. Furthermore, she was fearless in bringing up issues to upper management, she cared less about her reputation and more about truly finding the answer to the case, even if it meant facing backlash from her superiors. Her courageous attitude permeated the show.
Each case leads you to ponder about the realities of society today, and is quite realistic - the rich and powerful may get away with committing evil. However, the show highlights that a crime is a crime - and that a person's death would often haunt the family as well. It is only fair for the perpetrator to be punished, to avenge the victims involved, as juvenile offenders that are left unpunished will often perpetuate bigger, horrific crimes in the future. Watch how Shim Eun-seok shows you just how terrifying, yet powerful, the law can be.
