I’ve given this film a two star rating because well that’s all I could give it. I had high expectations for this film following Deadpool’s 1 and 2, as they were both full of dramatic action scenes and well executed jokes and Deadpool antics.
However… despite the film having two very prominent actors, possibly two of my favourites, the marvel team which has taken over the Deadpool trilogy following the fox takeover seriously let this poorly made film leave me feeling bored and unfulfilled. I couldn’t quite grasp what the directors were trying to achieve when building the plot, However i later discovered the film didn’t have a plot line at all, in fact the movie just continued throwing one action scene after another without allowing the audience (myself) any time to recover and there was seemingly no meaning behind the violence or the jokes made.
I would have given the movie 1 star if it weren’t for the great acting as usual, I think that both Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman tried their best to embody their characters as usual despite being puppets for Disneys endless multiverse theme which dominates the marvel films of today.
The movie could have lived up to my expectations if it had more impactful side characters and a better plot line which actually explained the origin of the action that occurred during the movie, again there could have been more development between the characters and links to previous films such as the earlier marvel films or past and future deadpool movies.
I can’t see how they can profit anymore off either deadpool or wolverine after basically killing off these two prime characters from the marvel franchise. This sadly also means that marvel will continue to push more action and halfwitted humour on it’s audience as they reach for the smaller temporary moments of entertainment rather than more in depth content and prolonged suspense that was once put on the big screen by Disney.
Seriously big let down.
