I loved this movie back in the day. When I was 14 years old, I moved from suburban Jersey to Fort Greene in Brooklyn. It was a very different place than it is now. Although it was a tough neighborhood, it was Spike Lee's hometown and he had a little shop there called The Spike Lee Joint so there was much culture, history and appreciation mixed with shoot outs, heavy crime and drugs. We loved Fort Green Park. It was a refuge away from the chaos, but you best not go there at night. A lot of that scenery can be seen in this movie. While not well budgeted, it has so much heart. A cautionary tale of a teenager who makes a hasty decision and soon regrets it. I was totally drawn in and felt like i knew the actors. Much love to Just Another Girl on the I.R.T. <3
