I used to adore SpongeBob, especially seasons 1-6 which I would easily rate 10 stars. However, things took a downturn after the passing of Stephen Hillenburg. The newer episodes seem to lack the charm of the earlier ones, with a focus on greed rather than honoring the show's creator. The shift away from SpongeBob to other characters like Bubble Bass feels unnecessary. The exaggerated facial expressions and repetitive gags have become tiresome, diminishing the show's enjoyment. Patrick's character has also lost some of his original charm, coming across as more of a jerk than the lovable starfish we once knew. In my view, the newer episodes are lacking compared to the classics, and perhaps it's time for SpongeBob to consider wrapping up to preserve its legacy rather than continuing on a downward spiral.
