Wow. Just wow. *SPOILERS*. I love how we know that this is a tragedy, yet it is gut-wrenching when everything crumbles before us. As the story continues, you can see their bittersweet and flaming romance slowly fall apart due to their flaws. Ludwick wishes to speak his mind and do the right thing. Janusz on the other hand wants to get by. Their lack of communication and their varying interests conspire to pull them apart. In the end, when Janusz is in the store with Hania it hurts because he acts like Ludwick is nothing but an old friend. I love how this book captures the gay experience when one cannot express themselves. I love the way that the book is formatted, like two old friends remiesing. 5/5.
