Okay. I get the hype around this film. But I found myself bored halfway through the movie. I do want to commend the score & cinematography of this film. It is just so good, it seemed like a moving art. The looks, the colour grading, the theatricality of it echoes a grungy, gritty, dark Batman we all looked forward to. However, I found Pattinson is lacking some “umph” & gusto as both Bruce Wayne & the Batman. For instance, in his first crime scene with the cops, it felt like he was almost timid to go in & take charge of the room. And that just shows all throughout the movie. The infamous “where is she” line or in this film “what did you do” was just not as compelling as Bale did in the Dark Knight. And o my was Zoë Kravitz just dropped dead gorgeous, but I find her lacking as the cat woman. In terms of plot, goodness was it difficult to follow the timeline. I am familiar with the Batman story, & somehow I found myself unable to follow the story line. I thought there were too many characters being introduced in the film, it took away a shine on the main antagonist and there was really no major protagonist v antagonist moment. I wish they just focused on the riddler instead. Gave it a 3 since the cinematography and score was soo goood. And yet gave it a 3 because Battinson kinda let me down a bit. Ended up rewatching Nolan’s trilogy after this film.
