It draws you in rather like an Eastenders episode quite melodramatic and then you start thinking - hang on this is entirely unbelievable. Modern looking girls with full make-up on the front line ; people meet up in unlikely places to further the story and then one has to suspend belief in order to accept that black people were living such lives in early 1940s Britain and Europe and of course they were not. Great acting by certain actors but a lot of mediocre acting too. It is almost a British obsession to keep rehashing the issues of the Second World War and prolonging the narrative of goodies versus baddies and the goodies won the war but surely in the 21st century we should be moving on from these tragic events of almost a century ago and leaving this epoch in time with the better depictions of the past. Woke BBC interpretations and re-writing history are frankly tiresome and a waste of licence fees
