The book is a delight for anyone interested in Greece. As I spend several weeks in Molyvos yearly, and enjoy its beauty and atmosphere, Arrested Song reminds me of the harsh Greek reality, the heroism of ordinary people in this extended period of the 20th century. I admire Calliope's sense of justice, her capacity to live and love beyond ideologies. Irena Karafilly's writing style is beautiful, her prose evocative.
