Only got hooked up binge watching this 2001 Meteor Garden while watching the 2018 version onNetflix. Dylan Wang was a great DMS but I found Shen Yue's portrayal as Shanca kinda cold and didn't inspire romantic vibes when they're together on s scene. I didn't find her cute or attractive at all. When I saw Barbie Hsu and Jerry Yan as Shancai & Dao Ming Si, I understood now why I couldn't emphasize with the newer version. They were iconic in their characters. They light up the screen when they're together. You would cry and laugh with them as if you were them! Jerry was tough, child like and handsome. Barbie exuded wit, bravery and those pretty eyes makes u not question why it melted DMS heart and flirted with Lei's fragile emotions!!!

It was a very well made movie that digs deep into the human heart of whether to choose love and your own happiness, over responsibilities and spare others of pain. Cinematography was excellent.Both leads were great actors especially Gong Yoo. He wasn’t just an eye candy but you can feel his emotions with his eyes and every movement of his body. This is what separates him from most of the other good looking k-drama actors. However, I couldn’t feel their chemistry together. They don’t make me “feel” for them. For a supposed steamy love affair, they don’t sizzle together on screen. I think Gong Yoo was very handsome and she was just too plain. Other than that, a good movie over all....
