I rarely watch this show but happened to tune in today, 2/21/21, I caught the end of the segment showing some school board members making negative comments about parents during a ZOOM meeting. Following the video, during the conversations among the hosts, one of them indicated (paraphrasing) that it was unfortunate that educators were criticizing parents. Also (paraphrasing again) Sharon Osbourne asked if teachers are still getting paid even thought they are not working.
Two concerns with the hosts' comments that I cannot let go:
#First, that school board members are NOT educators. They are not the teachers in the classrooms and most of them are not even nor have ever been CERTIFIED educators. Unfortunately in too many cases, school board members are not even supportive of the actual educators in the classrooms in the district that they are supposed to be serving.
#Second, that teachers ARE working as public school districts are providing instruction, either virtually or in smaller groups in-person or a hybrid version of both.
All of you need to rethink the implicit bias that you allowed against educators, especially when you are not in their position so should not judge and because you all have the luxury of a highly regulated, socially distanced working environment.
