Despite all the positive reviews on here, I'm just going to give my honest opinion based on the first and second book from the series:
The first book was okay, I was able to read through the whole thing without cringeing so much. The author's writing style is unique, but not my cup of tea.
The second book however, was extremely predictable. It was obvious that there would be a love triangle, and Juliette just started to become somewhat whiney and annoying as a character, although she suffered a lot throughout her life. I also don't understand everyone's hype on Aaron Warner, first book he literally came off as a creep, even in some scenes touching her inappropriately, and even hurting her, only for him to say he "didnt mean it", and Juliette eventually falling for him.
I couldn't finish the second book without cringeing. The themes were very cliche; typical boy meets girl in a confinement prison and start dating. Then girl falls for the bad guy and there is a love triangle.
I can understand why its a popular highschool read, but honestly, not for me. Also reading the synopsis of Restore Me, the way the author portrays Nazeera as a Muslim woman is very humiliating and shameful. Like you're a Muslim author, at least be decent with how you portray a Muslim character, we have enough misrepresentation and stereotypes shoved into our faces by Western movies/shows.
