I should've read the reviews. When it says "dark," run the other way. Regional accent is hard to follow and background music/noise doesn't help. I would've turned on subtitles but my husband wouldn't let me. Characters are too flat (but hey, it's Maine, right?) to hold your interest, much less generate empathy. Don't expect closure at the end, either; it's "Hey, we're almost out of film, let's leave 'em hanging and call it a literary device." The one star is for the singing fishermen. They don't really have anything to do with the plot or the movie, but they sound great.
You want a murder mystery with great acting and a good plot, re-watch "Fried Green Tomatoes." If you watch this one, you'll never get that almost 2 hours back!
