This irksome mess of contrived, manipulated, phony, miserable, family soap opera could have come only from the simple minds at Discovery Channel. It is a disgraceful embarrassment that shows what has become of American television. Believing that this is real, as in "reality tv," requires a degree of ignorance and gullibility that is shockingly illustrative of today's America. Introducing "Toothpick Boy" into the sorry mess was a huge blunder. He's a brat who should have been smacked hard and ordered to get rid of the laughable toothpicks. He contributed nothing to the show, but I can see him becoming a new "star" at Discover. The contrived competition between the two washplants and father/son was phony and reduced the show's credibility to less than zero. The fact that this shameful family is able to bring complete devastation to the natural environment without contrition and accountability just to make a few more dollars is criminal. Discovery Channel is exploiting their vulnerable audience just like the Hoffmans grifters are exploiting the defenseless Alaskan environment.
