As a 13 year old, soon to be 14, in 2021. I started watching 80’s/90’s film’s like Die Hard and Tim Burtons’ Batman films. Watching this one movie in particular I immediately knew this was going to be bad. Joel took over Tims’ franchise and it made a turn for the worse. Starting with recasting Batman in both movies with who were not happy with their own performances. I was excited to hear Arnold Schwarzenegger would be in this because of his famous one liners and looks, but unfortunately I was disappointed. The one liners are lame and outside of his suit he was not as good looking. (Also the first fight scene you can see they have ROLLER blades, not ICE skates.) Uma Thurman should’ve had more movement then blowing into mens faces and have more ability with her plant powers. Bane should’ve had a lot more dialogue than repeating words like a baby trying to learn to speak. Bane is supposed to be intelligent and combat active, instead he is a mindless brute. Lastly, character wise, Alicia Silverstone played as Batgirl as well as being Alfreds niece despite his old age. She should’ve been his great niece, along with that she may have been clever and smart but she immediately knew how to use the gadgets and fighting styles without training or preparation. She is supposed be from England but she does not have an English accent.
In both Batman Forever and Batman and Robin it seems like a lame TV Show more then just a 90s movie possibly trying highlight more of Adam Wests performance in the 60s TV Show. The sets were alright but the camera angles were odd. It always seemed tilted and somewhat unintentionally angled specific ways. I know CGI wasn’t great in these times but it wasn’t as good as it could’ve been. Green screen would’ve been just as good.
Something I did actually like about the movie are the silly costumes. During the whole movie I did complain about the nipples, the zooming directly into butts and the fact that both Batgirls and Robins identity were not hidden in the masks. But it was however funny and silly.
Usually when some says Batman, I think of a dark superhero. This movie was more light and cartoony because of this I give it
2.5/5.
