I'm disappointed to see yet another movie demonizing very serious signs of mental illness and encouraging disgusting parental behaviors. M.O.M should have instead been called "My mother IS a monster".
Her utter disregard for her son's liveliness in favor of invading his privacy and criminalizing him was disheartening to watch. This movie plays on the public's fascination with "psycopathy" without actually knowing the facts about the disorder or proper practices in treating it.
If the director's intention was to create a movie highlighting the many issues in parents of troubled children, they nailed it. But if their intention was to create a horror film about a terrible, creepy child who grew up without "feelings" to become a killer then they failed. It's easy to see that the mother's parenting played a large role in his behavior and that is, unfortunately, very predictable.
