Amazing movie, but beware: TRIGGERING!
Beautifully written and well-plotted story, a truly captivating psychological thriller with astonishing performances and a touch of unsettling surrealism.
A university student from modern times keeps dreaming (and hallucinating) about being a female singer in the 60s, who got murdered, but the plot is much more complicated and profound than what it seems from the trailer… it’s relevant as it concerns feminicides, mental health, but it does so in such a very clever way, the metaphors all work.
I’ve never seen the pain, despair, anger and fight afflicted on women by patriarchy, sexual abuse and violence expressed so well. It speaks beautifully.
Just a note that while this movie is simply a must watch because it’s a relevant political and social phenomenon, and incredibly smart in expressing the depth of trauma, it is very triggering in regards to sexual exploitation. I wish there was a trigger warning, and I know a lot of women will find it hard to watch. I know I did.
