1.5 stars on a good day.
Concept wasn't bad. Plot had more holes than a golf course.
Crowe's performance was good for a b grade movie but far below his normal standard. I could see some hints in his character that had potential but the writing and direction definitely didn't help.
Pistorius had even less to work with from the screenplay, who played the main protagonist. They made her character make very dumb choices I believe so they could create openings for the movie to be gritty, violent and confronting. Instead it just felt stupid and frustrating. I'm not one to normally worry about plot holes or movies not being realistic.
SPOILER ALERT!
Then in the ending they are semi happy as they drive to the hospital to see Pistorius's characters brother at the hospital who will most likely have serious long term injury from being burned from gasoline while forgetting her best friend was brutally murdered and many others died along the way. She then gets cut off by a car that runs a red light and doesn't honk her car horn a lesson she has just learnt from some psycho killer that literally made her brother stab his girlfriend to death. Her and her son share a smile and a smirk like I better not toot my horn. Oh and not to mention the corny as line she yells about a polite toot when she kicks Crowe's face that pushes some scissors through his eyes.
Everything this movie could have been it wasn't.
