The name Cruella , immediately brings back memories of Cruella deVille the iconic character immortalised for me played by Glenn Close in the movie 101 Dalmatians (2001).
But kudos to Emma Stone for her portrayal of Estella/Cruella. She brings a refreshing change to the movie which begins with grey shades galore. Her portrayal of Estella as naรฏve , yet strong headed and someone hell bent on not giving up would surely give many a kids of the younger generation much hope, many desires and big aspirations.
Her sharp shift over to Cruella brought about by the change in the differing costumes and the iconic hair style , drives home the point from the word go. Her evil intentions of course have a base that will ring a bell with many and no one will find any harm in chiding along with her.
Emma Thompson of course doesnโt fail in her role as the villainess from the very beginning. She falls short of in her portrayal of a strict fashionista as was done by Meryl Streep in Devil wears Prada. Mark Strong also seems to have been type cast as Stanley Tucci has been as the side kick of the main hero or villain.
But the show stoppers of the movie have to be Buddy and Wink who without saying a word portray what the entire cast do during their screen time.
