I enjoyed this film, and I applaud it's honest depiction of the current failure of psychiatry and psychiatric drugs evident in some important things Kevin Klein's character says.. The husband changes because eventually he's fairly accurately self critical. The wife finally puts together her criticism and her care for him in a crucial phone call. This film, with it's mingling of sweetness and depth, humor and seriousness is better than a great many films of the day which are trying to outdo each other for how dark they can be. The significance of the starling could be clearer, but I think it stands for the fact that we have to try to understand nature, the world we're a part of, and not give up, because life is worth it.
