I’ve always loved Saints Row 2. I was disappointed with the direction they took The Third, just thought it could have been better if they kept it a little more grounded like the first two, but still enjoyed the over the top wackiness. This new saints row I felt was still over the top and wacky but still more grounded, definitely more like The Third though. With all that said, I feel as though this was a pretty a pretty great game. The customization was great, still miss some customization features from the second game but felt it was better than the The Third. The story and the characters were also really good. All in all I feel like it was kind of a breath of fresh nostalgic air, somewhere in between Saints Row 2 and The third (definitely more toward The Third, but a little grounded like the second). I really hope the negative reviews don’t get them to scrap this game, I think there will always be a place for Saints Row in the future. It just really fills a void, not as serious and life like as GTA but still full of customization and wacky fun in a more arcade like fashion. I feel like that’s what most of these people doing comparisons fail to realize, it’s not a simulator, it’s more of an arcade like experience that lets you forget the seriousness of the world and just have stupid funny fun with a good story and decent characters. Saints Row will always have a place in my heart and gaming library and I hope they continue in this direction.
