Awful first episode, badly written, by the number's directing, the pacing of the whole hour was so slow I expected it to come to a grinding halt within the first fifteen minutes. The excellent cast could have done much better if they'd have had a sharper and punchier script to work with. The first episode of the Gallows Pole had the potential to take the audience on a real roller coaster ride and it failed miserably, hopefully episode two will go someway to redeeming this three part drama
