Unfortunately you lose my support at the very start with your dogma that I’m either antiracist or racist, there is no other bin to fall into, and if I’m not actively antiracist as YOU define it then I’m a racist. My childhood years were spent in the South and I’m old enough to have personally seen Jim Crow in action; so I know what active racism looks, feels and sounds like. I also know from direct experience what it’s like to be stopped by the police at gunpoint, as in a .357 magnum pointed at my head. Seven times in fact, in a two month period. Turns out some police don’t like poor people of any color any more than they like Black people of any level of income or education. So reflect on that and ask yourself how many potential allies you’re losing with your “if you’re not actively ‘antiracist’ then you’re a racist” rhetoric. Also reflect on how this over-the-top baloney about a babe in arms being racist simply aids the efforts of the Trumpers. You need support from the middle whether you realize it or not.
