Wow! What a hard watch. The movie fails to grab the audience and place them next to Elvis and show his life, rise to stardom. The movies tries to incorporate so much yet merely scratches the surface of the topics that are touched on. 70% of the movie is told through the eyes of the Colonel and half of the movie is wasted on showing how famous Elvis was (as if we didn’t already know that.) instead of his roots and upbringing. No relationship or friendship Elvis had in the movie is ever fully established, no foundation is laid, So scenes where we are supposed to feel and empathize with him, just feels out of place and lackluster. A huge mishandle on this amazing opportunity to showcase the legendary career of the king of rock and roll. A waste of Butlers phenomenal job as embodying the king himself. This movie needs to be made again and take many notes from “Bohemian rhapsody”.
