Amazed this is coming up to 50 years old. I still think it is as fresh and exciting as it was when I was taken to see it aged 11. We were so excited to see the new Bond in Roger Moore, who was the obvious choice.
From the moments of the opening sequence with the funeral cortège and Paul McCartneys Wings just blowing us away with best ever Bond intro number, that set the pace so well for the rest of the movie, this is still for me the most exciting Bond. FRWL is the best spy movie but LALD is the best action film and with a clear plotline that an 11 year old can follow. I think it wears well today.
Great motorboat chase
Excellent stunt with the routemaster and also the croc pool.
The shark pool at the end is corny but fun to watch.
And Moore was just so cool and gentlemanly with the hard underline. Even the clothes he wore were so different to Connery. Moore set his mark from the start and played it as his own Bond.
But the boat is still the best ever good guy, bad guy, police chase.
