I've watched, read, listened to, and heard Tolkien since my childhood. From the lotr book trilogy, the Hobbit, 1900s adaptations, the movie trilogies, Silmarillion, unfinished tales... after all of this studying and learning for years. I'll say that this show, so far, stays true to the heart of the kind of story Tolkien wants to tell. A story about friendship and love at the core, people's uniting against evil despite differences, for the ultimate cause of peace. There has been far too much hate for this show. And quite frankly I'm sick of it. This show, so far, is aiming to express the heart of Tolkien stories through the medium of Television. Which is, by the way, one of many ways to tell a story. This show has done good. Good writing, good characterization through props and dialogue, good balance between comic relief and serious endevours, loveable characters overall that draw you into the story, and stunning visuals. I'm looking forward to the rest of the episodes in the coming weeks. Well done to the show runners and writers.
