This book is spot on for people who struggle with Chronic illness, ADHD, Pregnant or with small children, suffering from depression etc., as the author states, people who are neurodivergent, basically Neurodivergent is a nonmedical term that describes people whose brains develop or work differently for some reason. This means the person has different strengths and struggles from people whose brains develop or work more typically. While some people who are neurodivergent have medical conditions, it also happens to people where a medical condition or diagnosis hasn’t been identified. I learn differently and my medical conditions have impaired my Executive Functioning. This doesn’t mean I am not intelligent but I have to learn strategies and change my thinking so I stop beating myself up for not doing things the way some would think they “should” be done.
Through the book, “how to keep house while drowning”, I was able to find a better understanding of myself and I’m learning how to find the strength to stop looking at the negatives of what I can’t achieve the way others do, and praising myself for what I can do.
I find this book to be priceless for me and encourage others to buy the book and really appreciate what it teaches. I wish it was around 30 years ago. At 55 years young, I am learning who I am and slowly accepting myself as I am.
