An excellent and diverse cast and amazing production value. Very intriguing plot lines that start off well. But ultimately, everything is underserved by the absolute subpar and atrocious writing. There is little to no character development, and interactions between characters are shallow and in service of whatever "mystery box" the writers have cooked up for that season. Lacks the sense of wonder, awe, and optimism that underscored other treks. Writers spend very little time fleshing out characters and only do so if they want to kill them off to create a cheap "emotional moment". This show will only realize its true potential with competent writers.
