Maybe it is because i don't play much Mario games but to me the plot feels kinda generic with the set up a rival for the hero to impress later and have a plot item they will use to save the day the scenes where i find interesting is where the rainbow bridge break and princess peach freezes bowser other than that I don't find much interesting plot.
