Problem is it's just not very fun and there are better things to play. I've gone from advocating for the series to doing the exact opposite.
Weapons are my biggest disappointment, there's little "feedback" when shooting and it feels like shooting airguns.
There's no sense of accomplishment doing anything at all in matches.
The specialists concept is not interesting at all. Too few and and I have no desire to "be" any of them, it is more like a punishment to endure to play the game.
The game engine is cool in what it can do on a modern pc, but tech alone does not mean the game using it is fun.
I've been in the Battlefield camp since the very first pc games, always putting it above CoD for being a deeper game with more possibilities and strategy.
But I'll be in Cold War zombies and multiplayer (waiting for gamers to realize Vanguard really isn't all that), the amount of polish and production values in CoD cold war is insane. And that's despite it crashing on me...Maybe I'll pick up BF4 again if I get nostalgic, after that one not much got better. Maybe the notable developers and soul of the game moved on.
I have not played this game a lot; after hundreds of hours in previous Battlefields and some of the best multiplayer gaming I've experienced I know this is not for me and I don't see how it would be for most others. It might be "an ok way to waste time", but the bar can be set higher than that these days.
