Metin2 was a game I used to play a lot in my childhood. With more than 10,000 hours I've collected in this game, I can say that Metin2 used to be a very good choice in the genre as it combines action combat and tap target elements.
For the time of its release, Metin2 was definitely one of a kind, but over the years the developers and publishers milked the community dry like no other. It's sad to see that this game is even still supported and alive. Most of the reasonable player base went over to private servers or quit completely, like I did.
The game itself was never bad, but the way things are handled, especially after you surpass a certain milestone in the game and reach closer to “endgame” is just a pain to deal with.
Without investing money you will likely spend years of your precious time to just get further and progress in the content with the only problem that it doesn't feel rewarding nor fair at all. Metin2 experienced its best days long ago, and I think it's time to give up the title and move on to other games. While I would advise against playing more than a few hours just to get a feel for the game, as long as it's still live you're free to try it out.
Some pros I see in the game:
- Good unique combat system with a mix of tap target and action combat that makes it accessible for most players
- Decent graphic considering the release date
- Maintained and “updated”
- Somehow still active player base
- Unique in game skill level systems, guild wars, gear, monsters
Some cons of Metin2:
- Milking your wallet
- Way too time-consuming
- Doesn't feel rewarding due to slow progress
- Dated character customization
- Gameforge as publisher
To conclude, I'd suggest you to move on to other titles and stay away from Metin2 unless it's for a short trial while the game is still alive.
Good luck in your games & enjoy your time ♥
