An honest reflection of women’s lives over the decades. This is a collection of stories that will take you to different places and times with different characters and reactions.
I loved the way the stories were represented - written with vivid descriptions that make you a part of the scene. Beautifully written words that paint a picture of life for women, be it Wajiri in Cherrapunji or Mamoni in Sonapukur. Each women faces her own challenges and comes out on the other side in their own way. Some triumph while others give in.
My favourite story has to be ‘Tethered Wings’ Mrinalini’s story. She is a girl who has travelled all her life with her mother, met countless people but at the end of it can’t overcome the gender role prescribed to her. She firmly believes that marrying a ‘well settled’ man and ‘settling down’ is what she has to achieve in life even though she could have had so many other options.
A lovely collection of tales that are written from the heart and reflect the soul.
