Nicky Hook

I listened to the audio version and was absorbed by the characters and back stories. I did find some of the middle longwinded, perhaps because I didn’t find the gaming world intrinsically interesting. Having said that, I am now intrigued and would like to try playing a game! For me the novel built increasing momentum when Marx is shot. The section where he is the narrator while in a coma and ultimately dying, was intensely moving. I loved the character of Sam and the relationship with Sadie, which was to endure all their setbacks. A fascinating and original story.

Such an interesting book and I want to reread as I feel I missed some of it. The overwhelming feeling for me was the grief of loss felt by Mary Shelley. An amazing story and very powerful. Beautiful.
