Good book. Learned a lot about elements of military, political and business history. There are plenty of compelling arguments to dispute the romanticism that comes with the perception of rural life. The author is an academic, so naturally his political bias comes through at times (no, Dollar General is not to blame for crime and poverty), but it’s not overbearing.
