Gosh, I REAAALLYYY wanted to like this show. I have been watching every episode hoping it gets better, but it has been the opposite. The storyline is awful, the acting is almost laughable, and the characters are not likable. The premise of teachers being so preoccupied with the superficial part of their students’ private lives, using the excuse of “taking back the power”, Is not only ridiculous but a little creepy. Who are these people anyways?! A pedophile homosexual who lies to sleep with a student; a neurotic and frustrated writer (who desperately needs anxiety medication and a counselor, instead of spilling her guts out to her 15 year old student about her fear of failure!); a quirky functioning alcoholic; and a nerdy guy who joins in the “gossip girl” fun just to spend time with the neurotic writer (instead of being an adult and just asking her out. Bleh! I am not even going to say anything about the students. The only thing worth noting is that is a mystery why any of the actors who play them thought these characters would be good for their careers. I would be very surprised if we see any more seasons of this train wreck of a show. Big miss!

I really enjoyed this show. It is reminiscent of “Dexter” with the inner monologue and murders. I do wish it would have been a bit original with the relationship between Joe and Mr. Mooney. At some point, in a flashback scene, Mr. Mooney even says: “...I am teaching you a code to live by.” This makes it an almost exactly copy of Dexter and his father. The actors do a fantastic job! I am loving Penn Bagdley. When I started watching, I didn’t think he was going to be able to play a creepy guy, but he pulls it off perfectly. Overall, a great show!
