This was a fantastic movie, as is typically the case with this director.
The story was bold and showed a lot of parallels to real life events. I think thatโs what has so many reviewers upset, they donโt like that itโs so parallel to current events and conveys a message that they refuse to see merit in. Political hubris is a large part of this movieโs punch line.
Existentialism is also a big focus of this movie, and they go about it in a creative way. Mickey is a clone that is reprinted each time he dies, which leads to a lot of debate from religious organizations, philosophers, and scientists. The fact that they never really give you a concrete moral answer really helps get the viewers thinking.
There were some parts of the film that felt less necessary than others, but the central theme stays fully intact. Overall a movie I would wholeheartedly recommend to friends.
