Suits: LA โ Pilot Review
Watching the Suits: LA pilot felt like jumping into Season 6, Episode 11 rather than the start of a fresh new series. The pacing was rushed, with little to no proper introduction to the cast, making it hard to connect with the characters.
The lead character, from his mannerisms to his speech and even his wardrobe, feels like a carbon copy of Harvey Specter, lacking a distinct personality that sets him apart. More importantly, the episode fails to establish a compelling hook. The original Suits pilot had Mike Rossโa flawed but brilliant protagonist whose journey instantly grabbed viewers, making them eager to see whether he would rise or fall. Suits: LA lacks that same intrigue, leaving little reason to stay invested in what happens next.
That said, itโs only the pilot, so Iโm not closing the door on the series just yet. I initially thought Suits: LA would be a branch of the NYC firm, with Harvey making a guest appearance in the pilot to introduce the new characters. That kind of connection to the original series could have been a great way to ease viewers into this new setting and team. Hopefully, future episodes will do a better job of establishing its own identity and giving us reasons to care.
