Although much literary license was exercised by Mr Jonasson, as he admits “ those who only says what is the truth, they’re not worth listening to,” the story is nevertheless arrestingly interesting, heartwarming, and re-readable. As an historian, I’m always put off by historical inaccuracies, the literally demon possessed Joseph Stalin is simply downgraded to a hot tempered dictator; the murder king chairman Mao, merely a gracious but kind contestant for the governance over China, etc, nevertheless the romp through a rose colored trek through the past of the whimsically lighthearted and venerable Alan Karlsson will most assuredly be one you’ll be glad to take again.
