The animation is very well done, the story writing is terrible. It's Sausage Party levels of writing/humor. It's like Genndy trying to do John K style, Spumco/Ren and Stimpy "Adult Party". Who wants that? I worry what a movie with these sensibilities say about Genndy. Don't meet your heroes, am I right? If he's wanting to each Miyazaki levels of anyone accepting your 2D films right away, no questions asked, blank check, go make gold, this film misses that mark completely. Genndy does push the bar on animation and strong advocate for 2D animation, hopefully the next project is a bit more inspiring. Fingers crossed for his Popeye remake. Viewers beware, maybe watch a review or 2 before watching to know what you're getting yourself into. One viewing was enough for this viewer.
